The Year-Round Martial Arts Marketing Calendar

September 1, 20267 min read

The short answer

Martial arts enrollment peaks in January, late August through September, and after spring break. Build campaigns four to six weeks before each peak and use slower months for retention and referral pushes.

Schools that plan campaigns a month ahead pay less for leads and fill classes faster than schools reacting to a slow week. The calendar below is a starting template you can adjust to your local school district schedule.

January to March: peak enrollment

  • January: your biggest month. Launch a New Year campaign in mid December, not January 2nd.
  • February: kids birthday party promotions and a parent referral push while classes are full and energy is high.
  • March: spring break camp promotion, marketed six weeks out to working parents.

April to July: camps and community

  • April: summer camp early bird registration. This is often the highest revenue campaign of the year.
  • May: school demonstrations, community events, and end-of-year testing content.
  • June and July: summer camp fill campaigns plus adult program pushes, since adult interest holds steady in summer while kids interest dips.

August to December: the second peak

  • August: back to school campaign starting four to six weeks before the first school day, promoting after school programs and pickup.
  • September: the second largest enrollment window of the year. Increase ad budget.
  • October: Halloween events, parents' night out, and a Q4 referral push.
  • November: holiday gift certificates and a black Friday intro package.
  • December: quiet on acquisition, loud on retention. Run belt ceremonies, banquets, and holiday content, and pre-build January's campaign.

Run campaigns four to six weeks early

Parents plan camps and after school care well before the season starts. If you launch a summer camp ad in June you are advertising to parents who already committed elsewhere in April.

What runs every single month

  1. 1Always-on lead generation ads at a steady daily budget.
  2. 2Three social posts per week, mixing class reels and student wins.
  3. 3A review request after every belt test.
  4. 4A win-back message to inactive students.
  5. 5A monthly numbers review: leads, cost per lead, show rate, enrollments, cancellations.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to advertise a martial arts school?+
January, late August through September, and the weeks before spring break and summer camp registration. Budget higher in those windows and stay always-on the rest of the year.
Should I pause martial arts ads in the summer?+
No. Shift the message to camps and adult programs instead. Turning ads off resets campaign learning and makes the fall restart more expensive.
